Storytelling

This is a story from my younger more reckless days about a fight I got into with my brother who was struggling with addiction and his eventual redemption (He's doing great now, family, home, career). It was part of one of my national tours, this event was held at the Portland Story Theater in Portland, Oregon.

I've told stories on stages nationally and internationally and my stories have been broadcast on NPR's Snap Judgement and The Story. I also won the Boulder Story Slam competition in Boulder, Colorado. My storytelling has received acclaim from NPR, The Spectator (UK) and others.

I'm also the creator, host and producer of The Windy City Story Slam and have produced events locally, nationally and internationally in Spain, Mexico, London, and as part of the Edinburgh Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. I created the first ever National Story Slam in which 10 storytellers representing 10 storytelling series from Coast to Coast, the Midwest and the South competed at the Harold Washington Library Pritzker Auditorium on the main stage of the Chicago Tribune Printer's Row Book Festival. My events have received acclaim and attention in The Guardian (UK), The Spectator (UK), Chicago Tribune, Chicago Public Radio, The Reader, Time Out Chicago, Salon and others. I recently started the East-West University Story Slam which had 90 competitors and the Chicagoland Intercollegiate Story Slam which had 5 storytellers representing 5 Universities and was featured on WGN Radio and TV in Ghana.
